Metadrasi was founded in December 2009 to facilitate the reception and integration of refugees and migrants in Greece. Believing that migration leads to development, Metadrasi is determined to uphold and protect the fundamental human rights of all those displaced and persecuted.

The Stepping Stone programme

Wilstar is funding one of the programmes run by Metadrasi, namely The Stepping Stone programme. This programme aims to empower refugees and migrants to participate equally in Greek society through two main pillars:

  1. Work Sector, through the integration of the beneficiaries into the labour market, using:
    • Personalised support and counselling of beneficiaries on labour and insurance issues or issues related to protecting their individual and social rights.
    • Support beneficiaries in job search techniques, CV writing, recommendation letters and familiarisation with the professional interview process.
  2. Educational sector, by developing the professional skills of the beneficiaries, focusing on their participation in vocational training, language courses or other activities.

The primary services of career counselling consist of:

  • Empowering the beneficiaries and developing the necessary skills to be directed to the labour market independently.
  • Personalised support and counselling of beneficiaries on labour and insurance issues or issues related to protecting their individual and social rights.
  • Supporting beneficiaries in job search techniques, CV writing, recommendation letters and familiarisation with the professional interview process
  • Referrals to seminars, training, workshops, and language courses, to enhance the skills of the programme's beneficiaries.
  • Liaising with the labour market to make the beneficiaries independent and to use their skills and qualifications appropriately. In this context, private companies and organisations are approached, with the primary criterion of approach being the relevance of the professional qualifications of the beneficiaries to the jobs offered.
  • Conducting online or in-person appointments to inform and tutor the supported individuals on various work topics.
  • Job Club is where their beneficiaries can look for work with the help of a job counsellor and follow specific techniques.
